Stand Out Speak Out

With the many controversial issues in the world today, one that never loses my interest is gay rights. My stand on this issue is I believe that gays should have all the rights that heterosexuals have. It’s not fair that their rights are being taken away to marry someone they are in love with. When we are just kids, we don’t know who we are going to be when we grow up, either gay or straight. Some already have it within themselves, it’s not something that they ask for, and it’s just natural. They start liking the same sex as them, but don’t want to come out of the closet because their afraid about what others will say. All gays are being made fun of or being called them names such as “faggots” or “fag”. It’s inappropriate for them to call them that, in fact I think it’s very ignorant. It is as offensive as a white person calling an African American a “Nigger” or a Negro. If they were to put themselves in the gay’s position, they wouldn’t like being called names.

Letting them have the same rights we do just makes it even simpler for everyone instead of arguing on what rights they should and should not have. The constitution states that we can marry whoever we want. With that being said, there shouldn’t be any type of argument just because others don’t like gays. They should be able to have the right to get married, just for the fact that we are all human. We shouldn’t to vote for this either, it’s unreasonable. We are all human beings that should have the same equal rights as everyone else. There is no right or wrong when it comes to marriage. Gays shouldn’t be judged on how they look, act, or who their dating. We shouldn’t look at them like if they’re not part of this society or this world we live in. Gays should also have the right to adopt children. There are people that are against this because they think it will set up a bad influence on the child or they think that they will grow up as being gay instead of being straight. In my opinion, I think it’s up to the child to decide on what they like or who they like. It can be that it’s a bad influence, but then again it’s always up to the child itself, not their parents, not their friends, but themselves.

Nevertheless; I think that they should have the same human rights as everyone else does. There shouldn't be any decision on this topic, it’s already said. We are all the same, in many different ways, but we are considered as one nation because we are all humans living in this world and should all be equal.

Internet Essay

The internet is based on sources and information about companies, music, and people. Everything is posted online and sometimes that information can affect you depending if people write about you or you yourself post things possibly in appropriate. Such as posting pictures of yourself naked, pornalistic videos or bulgur texts that would not sound write and can be weird to people.
The internet is worldwide, where we can all share ideas or things about yourself to others and how it can bring the people or community together as one or apart. Also were people you have as a friend can comment on your statues which is what you have post up and click a button  were it says like which means they liked your post.
There is a website called Facebook that is for people to post information about themselves and where you can blog about others.
In my opinion I think blogging about others is okay but depending if your blogging good about the person or blogging bad about the person because then that wouldn’t be good nor nice. You may hurt people’s feelings and also get them mad or frustrated which also I don’t think you would like some one else doing the same thing to you. The creators made the website with a lot of effort and is now a worldwide website that people use all day every day basically 24/7. In the article Time’s Person of the Year: You, it says “And we didn’t just watch, we also worked, Like crazy. We made Facebook profiles and Second Life avatars and reviewed books at Amazon and recorded pod casts. We blogged about our candidates losing and wrote songs about getting dumped. We camcorder bombing runs and built open-source software.” This piece of evidence states that the internet and its sources have expanded worldwide especially because it entertains the people trying something new that is fun to use.
Websites, such as Facebook or Myspace, can be viewed by others, like your friends or family and only they can see what you are posting. Though, they don’t think about how what you post online can affect them because there may be something they won’t like to find out about. In the article, What You Say Online Could Haunt You, it says “Admission dean Paul Marthers at Reed College in Portland, Ore., says the school denied admission this year to one applicant in part because his entries on blogging site Live Journal included disparaging comments about Reed.” Based on this quote from the text, it sets an example on how posting things online can affect you in school and in your job you might post something inappropriate you wouldn’t like others for example people from your work or some where else important to read what you had post and would be shocking to them. You should think about what you post online before you actually do it.
Web 2.0 brought the world together harboring a sense of community in which the common person could post their thoughts and experiences on the web to share with others. In the same article mentioned before it says, “You can learn more about how Americans live just by looking at the backgrounds of You Tube videos those rumpled bedrooms and toy strewn basement rec. rooms than you could from 1,000 hours of network television.” Web 2.0 is not a new version of some old software, it’s really a revolution.
Overall, one should always think about the pros and cons before posting things online because there are people that are going to judge you based on that. You have the choice whether or not you want to share your life to others on the internet. Think about how it is going to make you look and how others are going to see what type of person you really are. Not every single information can be true unless you want it to be or make it be.

What is An American?

In my opinion an American could be someone who has been born or comes to the United States to accomplish his or her goals, someone who puts their whole effort into education and a good career or someone who wants to succeed in life, anyone who understands that in life risking your self requires a lot of effort, even though some people that come from other countries and come to the United States of America that don’t valerate it, because once being in the United States of America they don’t appreciate all the opportunities they have become American because An immigrant can be considered an American because they come to a new land leaving everything behind friends, family and children without any guarantee of success in their life, but still they risk themselves to come to United States of America, a country with a different culture, habits, and laws.
An American is the citizen that really takes care for his country, studying getting a good education to become a professional and provide his knowledge to the rest of the citizens, or an American to the rest of the citizens or an American is the person that work even not being a professional, but that works hard to provide the best he can to his family and at the same time giving, his productions for the best of his country, or an American is that person that became soldier, marine, or aviator to defend his country or to defend another countries when is sent to those countries.
However; it’s not particularly from one certain place he or she can be Russian, German, Italian, Muslim, Buddhist, Christian or from different countries of the world. After going through out many difficulties that they’ve experienced to get to United States of America and establish themselves learning to live according to the culture, habits and laws, they contribute to the progress and enrichment of this country, having the feeling of what really is an American.
Nevertheless; I took the advantage to interview someone else to give me there opinion of “What is an American?” and which was my father Mauricio Galdamez and  said that: Geographically speaking every person that is born in the American continent Starting from Alaska, Canada, United States of America, United States Mexicanos, Central America and South America is an American, now depending on the ego and pride of every different person that has or has not been born in United States of America they could call themselves Americans; and when he said like a person that has not been born in the United States of America its because that person after so many years of suffering for living on the shadow of an undocumented person in the United States Of America, for not having the same rights and benefits like the people that are United Sates citizens, and become United States citizens of America through a legal program of citizenship and naturalization of The United States of America and after that probably forgetting his or her own origin and roots of his or her own country, he or she gets the ego and pride of calling him or her self American, because they really love feel part of this country.

The Crucibles

The crucible is based upon the Salem Witch Trials which is taken place in the 1950’s the main characters of this book and play are John Proctor and Abigail Williams. Both of these characters had an affair and Abigail ends up falling in love for him while John has his wife and kids at home. I never thought that he would ever be involved with witch craft or even having affairs with someone else. As for Abigail, I did kind of expect her to be rebellious. Irony is seen in both of these characters because I did not expect for them to be involved in any type of problem and in this case its witch craft. During that time Salem Witch Trials, it was very sad to see a lot innocent people die. Abigail Williams was one who caused these deaths. She accused innocent people in order to save herself and other village girls who were also doing witch craft.
In the movie, the story begins in the forest with Abigail and the other girls dancing in the forest praising the devil and speaking to him. In Salem, the people who live there are very religious and believe in god only. Once they heard about the girls dancing in the forest everyone in the Salem was horrified because they didn’t want to believe that their little girls or daughters would ever find out, but once they did everything changed for them. They ended up gong to court and have to confess, though they decided not to. In my opinion, I though they were afraid at the fact that they would be hanged.
In the middle of the movie, everyone is only focusing on the accusations Abigail is making. Abigail seems to persuade the judge very well because they listen to the accusations she is making and the court goes after those people. Most of these people were innocent and had nothing to do with witch craft. Some were even neighbors that saw the girls grow up since they were little. It seems to me that these girls did not care at all about anyone else but themselves which in fact is very selfish. Later on in the movie, Abigail goes after John Proctor’s wife Elizabeth, by accusing her of doing witch craft. The only reason she goes after his wife is because she is in love with John Proctor and wants to be with him. Though, he doesn’t feel the same way for her, he is in love with his wife and is taking responsibility of taking care of his children and other children as well.
John also ends up going to court because as every other husband, he went to defend his wife. Elizabeth is being accused of something that is unreasonable because they have no proof of her doing witch craft, they just assume that because of Abigail. It’s weird how everything was during that time, the way they used to do things. It was very unfair. John,Elizabeth and Abigail as a servant. She mentioned that she had bothered John and herself. After that, the judge puts John in jail because of the fact that he is lying in the court  about the witch craft and because he admitted that he talked to the devil and saw him. Everyone in the village did not expect that out of him because they all got along with him and thought he was very kind to everyone. It was shocking to me as well when I saw this scene because it was unexpected.
In the end, Abigail visits John in jail and offers him to leave with her, but he decides not to because of his wife and Abigail leaves and never returned. Later on, they take out Elizabeth so that she can persuade him to say the truth about the witch craft. If he confessed about it, he would be set free of charge but only if he signs the paper that states his confession. Though John rips the paper he had signed because he didn’t want his name to be shown every where or he didn’t want his name to be mentioned about the witch craft. In the end he is hanged with two other women and since that very moment, no other people were hanged or burned
Throughout the whole movie and the book, John Proctor and Abigail Williams were the ones who showed irony. Society during the Salem Witch Trials was very bad because of the accusations and the death of hundreds of innocent people. In the end, no one should expect so much from anybody, when they show so little to others.
